It probably goes without saying, but I’m super excited A TASTY DISH is out in the world. As authors, sometimes it’s difficult to answer (read: remember) how an idea came to us especially when a book was written a year or two before and other stories have been written since. But I remember writing the beginning of this book like it was yesterday. The idea, and the main character, Kasi Blythewood, sprang from my mind fully formed. Her sassy, and blunt, countenance rolled from my fingers even though I knew these complicated characters can sometimes be tagged as unlikeable. But for oldest Everheart brother, Declan, his love needed to be strong willed and not easily won over. Because Declan has layers, and if you don’t take the time to peel them, he’ll take the surface way out of any relationship he enters.

The book opens with Kasi trying to gain access to the backstage of a band playing during South by Southwest (SXSW or South By), a yearly conference/festival showcasing music, films, and interactive media held in Austin, TX. Kasi needs financing for her indie series about global cuisine and the making of. She pitches it as Anthony Bourdain meets Full Tilt Boogie. A behind-the-scenes look at documentary filmmaking of a culinary type meeting local chefs and the ingredients that inform their cooking.

I live in Austin but attended South By the first time a few years before I moved here. The festival is centered downtown around the historical district. My friends and I marveled as we walked the famed 6th street, taking in the competing music spilling from different venues as well as street performers. An Irish street band played traditional music on one corner while a famous hip hop band played from an open venue across the street. It sounds overwhelming, but I promise you it’s an experience not to be missed.

Everheart Bar and Fine Dining is set right off 6th street and Declan is always game for an adventure, whether local or international. Luckily for Kasi, he and his father are making some deals of their own in that backstage area she’s so desperate to get into. Declan’s happy to help, sizing up and down the curvy beauty, and not only gets Kasi backstage, but the funding she’s been seeking.

I hope you’ll check out A TASTY DISH and maybe visit South By if you haven’t already. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

About the Author

Kelly Cain is a native Californian but has spent the last couple of decades in Texas, currently residing in the live music capital of the world, Austin. Consequently, most of her books are set somewhere between those two locations.

Kelly writes multicultural romance with determined women directing their own fates, and the swoon-worthy men who adore them. She loves reading most genres but please don’t ask her to pick just one. However, she can pick her favorite book boyfriend – Will Herondale.

When she isn’t reading or writing, Kelly is most likely using a genealogy site to research her extended family, both old and new. Or cooking/baking something delightful.

She has two adult daughters, and a new granddaughter. Visit her website kellycainauthor.com for more info.
