Ingredients:
For the cookies
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 one ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 1/2 cup flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup milk
For the frosting
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
3 TBSP of butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
Milk as needed to spread
Instructions:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream brown sugar and butter, then add egg, vanilla and melted chocolate. Blend well.
- Sift together dry ingredients; add alternately with milk to the sugar/butter/egg mixture.
- Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
- Bake 10-12 minutes.
- Let cool briefly on sheet, then continue cooling on a wire rack.
- To make the frosting, cream together powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract and milk. When cookies are cooled, spread frosting on cookies.
Note: Let icing dry before storing in a container.
