Go Behind-the-Scenes with Louisa George and her Bad Boy!

SexySummer-FRONTWho isn’t just a little bit curious about a man with a secret? Especially a bad boy, hot-blooded, sexy-as-hell millionaire?

When I started to plot A Deal With A Devil I knew Rey had a secret, I just didn’t know what. I also knew heroine, Kate, was going to break him when she let the secret out of the bag. Color me surprised when I hit on the fact ex-boxer Rey ran an illicit fight club, had glorious tattoos and a Harley Davidson. He was so unlike any hero I’d ever written. So unlike my kind of hero, period. But, Lordy, he’s delicious, has a soft side (another secret!) and is all about protecting those he loves.

LouisaGeorge-300dpiInspiration for Rey came, of course, from the movie Fight Club, but also (physically, at least) from the fearless rugby players down here in New Zealand—those beaten-up, win-at-all-costs, rough-as-guts alpha heroes who wear the black jersey—the All Blacks. I’d been wanting to write a book inspired by them ever since the Romance Writers of New Zealand held their conference in the same hotel the All Blacks were staying in before one of their international games. There we were, completely surrounded by hero material—what’s a romance writer to do, but start plotting? Okay, boxing is a different sport to rugby, but they all put their bodies on the line, they are all super-driven to win and have a raw physicality. There is something totally appealing about a man who could fit you in the palm of his hand, who is outwardly scarred and hard as nails, yet inwardly soft as putty, and who would fight for you with his dying breath. This is Rey. Boxer. Millionaire. Hero.

Having tried a variety of careers in retail, marketing and nursing, Louisa is now thrilled that her dream job of writing romance means she gets to go to work in her pajamas.

Originally from Yorkshire, England, Louisa now lives in Auckland, New Zealand, with her husband, two sports-mad teenage sons and two male cats. Writing romance is her opportunity to covertly inject a hefty dose of pink into her heavily testosterone-dominated household.

When she’s not writing or reading Louisa loves to spend time with her family and friends, enjoys traveling, and adores eating great food (preferably cooked by someone else). She’s also hopelessly addicted to zumba.

  1. Hi Louisa! I loved Deal With The Devil and enjoyed reading about uour inspiration for Rey. I lived in Auckland back in the early 1970’S and went to Diocesan. I remember watching the All Blacks training for an international match on the football oval next to the school.

  2. One of my former students plays on the USA national Rugby team. I love reading books with sport heroes.
