Family Feuds and Release Day with Elsa Winckler!

The siblings on the Weston ranch have always known about the fight their dad and his brother had long ago, the reason why they never spoke to each other before they passed away. What they don’t know, is why. Their mother knows, but she’s not talking. Hayden Weston, the oldest brother on the Weston ranch ends the feud by reaching out to their two cousins Dylan and Carson Weston.

Both brothers jump at the chance to work with their cousins and eagerly move to the Weston leaving their unhappy childhood memories behind them.

In Home to the Cowboy, we meet Dylan Weston, a seedstock production specialist
like his brother. Because of his unhappy childhood, he isn’t interested in ever getting married but when he gives the leggy brunet outside town walking in the rain trailing a red suitcase behind her, a lift things shift.

June Kincaid grew up in the foster care system and the only family she has is her
best friend Abby. When she finds her boyfriend in bed with someone else, she decides to visit Marietta again, the only place where she’s ever really felt at home. (We meet her in Reckless with the cowboy when she visits Becket Weston to sign a book deal with him). Hopefully she’ll also have time to write the children’s story she’d been thinking about.

What she’s not prepared for is the seriously handsome cowboy who offers her a lift into town. His suggestion that they spend time together until she goes back to Seattle is tempting and sounds uncomplicated. So why does she hesitate?

I spent happy tears giving these two their happy ending – I hope you’ll enjoy it too. And oh,
the reason for the family is also revealed in this story!

Thanks for stopping by!

About the author

Elsa has been reading love stories for as long as she can remember and when she ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James, the Brontë sisters, etc. during her Honors studies, she was hooked for life.

Although her three gown-up children rarely acknowledge the fact they have a romance-writing mom, her husband fortunately, is very proud of her, reads every word and is happy to make sure she gets the kissing scenes just right.

She likes the heroines in her stories to be beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong.  And the heroes must be strong but possess a generous amount of sensitivity. They are of course, also gorgeous.  Her stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.

Elsa Winckler shares happy holiday wishes alongside release of ‘The Rancher’s Christmas Bride’

A warning – this is a Christmas story with cowboys, small towns and a little bit of magic!

If you’ve read the first three stories in the Westons of Montana series you’ll know why the town folks of Marietta, Montana call Willow Weston weird. She has the ability to know what the other members of her family are thinking – not something anyone is of course, comfortable with – and she knows when something bad has happened to someone close to her.

Ironically, she easily recognizes the signs when her brothers fall in love, she helps them accept that they are not responsible for their brother, Walker’s death but when love comes knocking on her own door in the form of Hunter Grant, newly appointed help on the ranch, she struggles with her own feelings and guilt.

Because she feels so deeply, she has long ago decided that she’s not going to fall in love or marry. Carrying the burden of other people’s pain is just too overwhelming so when Hunter’s presence elicits strange, new feelings, she’s determined to ignore them and him.

Willow has always been able to channel her intense feelings and overwhelming emotions on to a blank canvas on her easel when she creates vibrant landscapes done with oil paint and a brush, so when a cowboy who looks a lot like Hunter Grant suddenly features in her latest painting, she is more than a little upset. He has a farm waiting for him Colorado, why doesn’t he just leave?

When a misunderstanding leads to a fake engagement between the two of them the lines between what is real and what is actually fake get even more blurred.

I loved writing this Christmas story even though initially I wasn’t sure if these two will get their happy ending. Everything was working against them and there were so many obstacles. Very early on in the story I realized this one cannot be rushed, I’ll have to wait for them to tell me what they want.

I’ll probably never know for sure, but I do like to think it was also the wee bit magic in the story that helped me to find the happy ending for these two

Thanks to every reader who has picked up a copy, left a review or sent me a message – I love writing stories and when you like them as well, it’s such a wonderful bonus.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Cowboys and magic? Elsa Winckler shares a quick note for latest release.

If you like cowboy stories with a touch of magic, stories that force you to suspend your disbelief, I think you’ll enjoy Cooper’s and Rose’s story. I have always been curious about the slightly otherworldly, about people who feel deeply, those who communicate with animals, those who can heal.

Cooper is the quiet Weston, the one who listens and sees and understands much more than other people do. Like his sister Willow, he has inherited this instinct from their Irish grandmother. He has decided a long time ago, though that he prefers working with animals. Getting seriously about a woman? So not part of his plans.

Rose Dalton has been the influencer in Seattle to follow, a lifestyle that has quickly taken over her whole life. Everything comes crashing down the night her so-called boyfriend dumps during a live feed. Humiliated, hurt and so angry with herself for changing into someone she hardly recognizes, she got into her car and put her foot on the gas.

So when a crying Rose meets animal whispering Cooper, all sorts of strange vibes move around them. Will the magic of Marietta and Copper Mountain find a way to bring these two opposites together?

She’s out of her depth. Worse, the amused, sexy cowboy running the rodeo clinic is everything she shouldn’t want, yet he has a super power over her once sleepy libido.

Chasing Carolina Jessamine

by Laurie Beach

Sometimes, beauty’s not enough…

Carolina Jessamine Boone was created to be beautiful. At least that’s what she’s been told her whole life. So, why is she still alone?

Jessa has a good job at the island winery and is making an old Lowcountry bungalow into a home—she’s content, and certainly has no need for a man. But anonymous gifts left through an old milk door raise both questions and memories of the past. Were the gifts left by the suave outsider who has designs on not just her, but the winery itself? Could they be from the boy who broke her heart years ago? Or is she about to finally discover who her father is?

The more Jessa opens her heart, the more she puts herself at risk. But sometimes heartbreak is simply a nudge onto a new, better path.

Fans of Kristy Woodson Harvey and Karen White will find this sweet Lowcountry novel full of Southern charm, family drama, and the kind of no-nonsense wisdom one finds among the close-knit communities of the South Carolina sea islands.

She’s not settling down, she’s only interrupting her journey for a while…

When Ellie Campbell’s grandmother died, she walked away from an abusive relationship and takes the trip she’s always dreamt about. The first place she visits, is Marietta, the small Montana town her grandmother never stopped talking about. Instead of just driving through the quaint town as she’d planned though, she decides to stay for a while, opens a yarn shop and starts a book club. She’s not settling down, she’s only interrupting her journey for a while. When she topples from a rickety ladder and ends up in Becket Weston’s arms, everything changes, though.

Determined to ignore the immediate attraction she feels – she’s heard about bad boy Becket long before she’s met him – she tries to ignore his teasing, but as she gets to know him, meets his three cute dogs, discovers his secret, learns of his pain, she realizes there is more to the tall cowboy and his devilish smile than he wants others to see.

Becket, the second Weston brother lives and works on the Weston Ranch likes women – plural. He has a reputation as a bad boy, breaking hearts as far as he goes. Of course he loves the family ranch, but ranching isn’t what lights up his soul, it’s drawing cartoon-like pictures of dogs and adding text to express his thoughts about life and love and coming to terms with the brother he lost. These he shares on social media under a pseudonym and to his surprise, his posts go viral.

I came across Iain Welch’s gorgeous sketches of his dogs – do visit his website https://iainwelch.co.uk or his Instagram page @artywelch to see the adorable illustrations he does of the antics of his dogs. His artwork was the inspiration for Becket’s “secret”.

This story is for everyone who has a soft spot for dogs – I had so much fun writing Ellie and Becket’s story

About the Author.

Elsa Winckler has been reading love stories for as long as she can remember and when she ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James, the Brontë sisters, etc. during her Honors studies, she was hooked for life.

Therefore, when his best friend, Montaigne, asks Leith to take Miss Beatrice Salisbury as his next mistress, everything in him protests. Beatrice is too rustic, too opinionated, and far too shrewd.

Ever since she was ruined six years ago, Beatrice Salisbury has been living happily in the country with her mother and siblings, free from the constraints of society. But now financial calamity has struck, and her ancestral home is in jeopardy. So she turns to the only money-making scheme within her grasp: becoming a courtesan.

From the beginning of their stint as man and mistress, nothing goes according to plan. Soon, their physical entanglement has become so much more—but will they be able to make their love last for more than a fortnight?

Worse, if he wants to stay, he’ll have to face the secret that’s haunted him ever since he left.

Brooke Garcia can’t believe this ripped, blue-eyed SEAL is back in her life or that she’s stuck working with him. She’s no stranger to smooth-talking hometown heroes—she married one, and he broke her heart. Now a single mom, she doesn’t have time to indulge in walks down memory lane. Brooke never forgave Dalton for the way he left town without even saying good-bye, and she’s not interested in making amends.

But soul mates have a way of finding you…even when you’re not ready.

Reckless with the Cowboy

by Elsa Winckler

Cowboy Becket Weston likes women, plural, and has a reputation for breaking hearts. His bad-boy behavior masks a deeper need to atone for past mistakes. His side-hustle—using a pseudonym and posting comic drawings of ranch life on social media—lets him explore life, love, and grief without being exposed. He even has a following! But no amount of introspection can explain his fascination with Eleanor Campbell—Main Street, Marietta’s newest shopkeeper. She’s definitely not his type, so why does she keep turning up in his drawings?

Ellie Campbell isn’t one for staying long in any one place, but when she inherits money from her grandmother and decides to open a yarn store in small-town Marietta, it feels like she’s putting down roots. She’s not looking for a relationship after one too many hard knocks, literally, but Becket Weston gets under her skin like no other, igniting passion that’s impossible to ignore.

He’s a bad boy playboy and everyone knows it, but there’s something about him that just doesn’t add up. Does Ellie have the courage to stick around and find a way into his heart?

Elsa Winckler talks Childhood Wounds, Cowboy Heroes, and Second Chances in A Family with the Cowboy – Out Today!

I sometimes use the EnneaApp when creating characters. It’s similar to other personality tests but they have what they call nine ennea-types. Interesting to me is “childhood wound” of each ennea-type that is discussed.

Whatever type we are, I think we all walk around with some kind of “wound” from our childhood or past and often this prevents us from becoming the person we’re supposed to be. Sometimes what we think is a “wound” is simply our wrong perception of a situation, but we allow the lie we believe to take over our thoughts and direct our decisions.

This idea of a “wound” is what I’ve used when planning the The Westons of Montana series. The four Weston siblings live and work on The Weston Ranch. They lost a brother a few years back and they all feel guilty because of reasons they believe to be true. In this series each one has to come to terms with what happened before they can open their hearts to love.

Hayden Weston, the hero in the first story in the series, A family with the cowboy, has also lost his wife and as a single dad he’s struggling to cope with being a dad and a mom to his son Luke who is eight years old. When he meets Luke’s new teacher forgotten feelings stir and remind him he still has needs. Will he be brave enough to make peace with his past and accept that he’s allowed to be happy again?

Laura Anderson, new teacher in Marietta and happily single, may just be the person to show him how to love again.
